Downtown Countdown

Downtown Countdown – New Years Eve

The annual New Years Downtown Countdown will start at 8 pm on December 31st in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.

Included this year will be five stages of live music: UV (U2 tribute band) headlines on the city stage at Bay & Hendry Streets, Marty Stokes Band located in the Patio de Leon, Cherry Bombs will be at First and Broadway Streets, The Ben Allen Band on Hendry at Cowboy Up, and Redemption located on First & Jackson Streets.

Stage start times will be staggered beginning at 8 pm with the main stage beginning at 10 pm.The annual midnight ball drop will be at Bay & Hendry Streets, followed by fireworks!

The River District Holidays began the weekend of November 28th with the start of the annual month long Holiday Nights at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, followed by Christmas in the Park, Holiday Stroll, and Crafts & Cider in core downtown on the 29th, and the annual week long Festival of Trees and Tux & Trees Gala the following week at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center Full of festive events ongoing and yet to come throughout the holidays, don’t miss the sights of the season in the River District.

Holiday sights and special events include Holiday Nights at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, and Holiday House at the Burroughs Home & Gardens and the Langford Kingston Home, and more.

Mystery Walk Launch

Mystery Walk Launch, December 12th

With the official launch on Friday, December 12th, Mystery Walk has arrived for the season! Each Mystery Walk will have a unique theme, and the launch event, entitled “Electric Arc Light and Music Festival” was a dazzling celebration of sound, art, and light. With three stages and DJ’d sounds from Disco to House, choreographed dancers, performance and projection art, spectacular light displays and pyro dancers, it was a night of excitement in the River District. Created by the RDA and produced by Circus Arts United, the event is guaranteed to be a must attend event. Scheduled to be held the second Friday of each month, follow us on Facebook for clues to the January Mystery Walk!


2015 Art Walk Collector Image

The 2015 Art Walk series comes with new exhibits and excitement throughout the galleries and River District! The collector image featuring the art of Unit A’s Marcus Jansen is also available.

Look for the Fort Myers Art Walk information table, where you can sign up as a Fort Myers Art Walk Patron and receive the 2015 Art Walk Collector’s button, poster or tee shirt.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day Parade 2014

The first Veterans Day Parade in more than 40 years was held on November 11th with great success in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District. A parade, music, and comradery helped create the charming event with many, many supporters and volunteers that both helped and participated in this event.

Saturday Art Fair Returns in November, December & January

The annual Saturday Art Fair begins again this November, and is looking for vibrant, accomplished artists and crafters to set up in Downtown to sell the works they create.

Gardners Park

Gardner’s Park Pop-Up Bazaar

A soon-to-be tradition has in Gardner’s Park with the start of a weekly bazaar.
Baked goods, fruits & veggies, flea market items, arts, crafts, and many other items are anticipated to be a part of the event.

Scheduled for every Friday, year round, the bazaar will enhance the offerings within the River District and create a driven concentration of shoppers to experience the charm of Gardner’s Park.  Non-RDA event.

Downtown Art Walk Wins $15,000 Grant

For the third year in a row, Art Walk is pleased to announce winning a $15,000 Arts &     Attraction grant from the   Southwest Florida Community Foundation and the Visitor and Convention Bureau.

The grant recognizes this monthly event as a fixture in the River District social scene.  The funding may be used for marketing and advertising of both the event and the galleries included within it.   In its sixth year, Art Walk draws between 3,000 – 5,000 attendees during season and 1,000 – 3,000 attendees off-season.

This monthly event brings social activity to downtown and a tremendous positive financial impact for our merchants.   Art Walk is funded through monthly dues from River District galleries, art partners, and sponsors.
